Families of Faith (Grades K-4)

Parents, grandparents, godparents, and other significant adults in a child’s life are their first and most important teachers of the faith. Being an amazing teacher does not require training, certifications, or special skills. It simply means walking with the child along their faith journey and sharing the example of your faith with them. With that in mind, we are excited to be embracing a Family Faith Formation model at Holy Family Church that will bring families together, engaging them in actively growing in their faith as a family, and learning as Jesus intended – in a setting of love.

“Family catechesis is meant to make faith a day to day lived reality and not just a class that you take once a week that has no relevance to day to day life.” - Jessica V. Adrians, Shaped by Love: Family Catechesis and the Crisis of Disaffiliation in the Catholic Church

Our Family Faith Formation program is designed to meet the needs of children in kindergarten through 4th grade, though younger and older children are welcome to join as well as part of your family. Parents or guardians will attend with their children and be active participants in the gatherings as we grow in faith and love together. We will be using A Family of Faith: Catechesis for the Whole Family from the Sophia Institute Press to guide our lessons. Classes will take place on Sunday mornings throughout the year with once a month Wednesday evening enrichment classes as well.

First Sacraments (Grade 2)

At Holy Family Church we begin our Sacramental Prep program when your child has reached the second grade. We work to prepare your children for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist concurrently over the course of the school year with First Reconciliation taking place in January and First Communion in May.

We use the Dynamic Catholic Blessed curriculum to guide our lessons. Children and their parent or guardian will complete video-based lessons at home and attend in person classes together on Sunday mornings. Our goal is to create a fun and engaging learning environment which encourages interaction and building positive relationships that will lead to creating a strong foundation for a meaningful faith life and relationship with God.

Faith Discovery (Grades 5-6)

Introducing Faith Discovery – a new faith formation program focused on our children entering the transitional years of 5th and 6th grades. Parents/guardians are welcome to join classes but are not required to do such. This program is designed to be engaging while providing the building blocks of faith knowledge that will further your child’s interest in learning more and answer questions they may have in a safe and supportive environment. We will be using YouCat for Kids as the guiding resource for our lessons as well as studying various saints as a model for how we can live our own best life. This will be a great transition into the youth group model of faith formation that is to follow as your child moves into 7th grade and beyond.
